Today we are excited to announce the transition from truApp to seelio! Our new name, seelio, comes from the combination of see + portfolio.
The new site and name will launch within a month. All current truApp accounts will transfer directly to seelio.com at that time! Existing truApp links (e.g. truApp.me/mosesklee) will automatically direct to your new page on seelio (e.g. seelio.com/mosesklee).
Over the past 6 months, we’ve taken into consideration the feedback from all of you and can’t wait to show you our new product.
We truly believe that seelio will be that stage for college students to distinguish themselves and connect with companies.
Check out our splash page and a sneak peak of the new site here: seelio.com (note: click on the upper right hand corner!)
The truApp team is excited to announce a new feature: truApp collaborators.
Some of you have already been adding who you’ve worked with on projects. See below as an example (Thanks Rebecca Gebhard)
Now we’re making it much easier to do this. When you add work on truApp, you can now link it to another person – a collaborator!
Showing who you collaborated with on your work is to your advantage because recruiters want to know that you’re a team player! It also gives more credibility to your work. (See below for where to add collaborators.)
Now you can add collaborators to your work
If your collaborator is already on truApp, all you need to do is type in his or her name and you can select your teammate. If he or she is not on truApp, add an email address and he or she will confirm.
Collaborators will receive a notification email when they are added which they can approve or reject.
Your collaborators will then appear in your work item!
Now recruiters can see who you've worked with
Happy adding collaborators!
Now onto some real news for truApp.
We are happy to announce the launch of truApp workline, a new way for students to discover one another and for recruiters to discover talent!
truApp workline is a gallery of student work, projects, and interest. If you see something interesting, all you need to do is click on the project or the student name and you can learn more. We hope that this will enhance the entire talent discovery process.
See people for what they do, not just what they say.
[Editor’s note: What date was this post published? April…]
We have some incredible, but difficult news to announce!
As with all startups, we are constantly pivoting. Over the past few months, we have been listening to our users and have discovered that many of them have been using truApp to find dates. Quotes from our user base:
- “truApp should become a dating website. I would much rather use this platform to get to know people than facebook or twitter.”
- “What better way to know if you want to date someone than to see their work, interests, and passions?”
- “I published my truApp on my facebook and girls that never would have given me the time of day reached out and wanted to get to know me more!“
As of today, truApp has become truLove. [You must login to the old truApp to see the updates. Click here. ]
Now, on everyone’s profile, you will see a “date me” button (see example below). You can browse around on the “people” tab and if you find someone interesting, all you need to do is click on the “date me” button and that other person will be notified that you are interested in going out. In addition, we have integrated with google calendar so that you can easily schedule a time to go out!
We hope that you’ll enjoy the changes we have made to our platform! [Reminder: You must login to the old truApp to see the updates] Watch this video of Jerry Wang, a truApp cofounder, for more on the value of truLove!
Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Today, we are thrilled to announce truApp invites and GitHub integration.
With truApp invites, students can now invite their friends onto truApp from any college or university. The student who has the most referrals by the end of the month will receive a $150 Amazon.com gift card.
Programmers can now showoff their code, forks, watches, and languages with GitHub integration.

We are actively working on several new features to enhance your experience on the site. Stay tuned.
Email us if you have any questions.
First, we are extremely excited to announce that Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning‘s new startup, Airtime, has joined the truApp community. You may recall that Sean Parker was instrumental in the rise of Facebook from the movie The Social Network.
In addition, one of the hottest new mobile payment apps, Pay Anywhere, is now hiring on truApp. Check out more job opportunities here.
Our team is also pleased to announce some major new features coming to the platform on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day!):
- Integration with content on other websites, such as github, flickr, vimeo, and more.
- Ability to add blogs (such as wordpress, tumblr) and twitter accounts to your portfolio
- A revamped homepage making companies and job opportunities more visible
Finally, we will be opening up the platform to students at other universities on a much larger scale through our invitation system. Current students will be able to invite any other student onto the platform.
Thank you to everyone who has given us feedback thus far.
There are a lot of additional features we will be adding as we move towards our beta release this summer. Stay tuned.
